Verkadehuis

Het Verkadehuis zal 30 april 2010 zijn deuren sluiten.
Het is mooi geweest, na 18 jaar zet ik een punt achter het Verkadehuis.
Jarenlang heb ik er enorm hard aan gewerkt om naast mijn bedrijf ook het culturele klimaat in Roosendaal op een hoger peil te brengen. 18 Jaar lang stond het Verkadehuis synoniem voor culturele uitspattingen: wie heeft er niet een keer gedineerd met de familie Valentijn, of zijn (klein)kind bewonderd tijdens een muziekschooloptreden, genoten van jazz, popmuziek en poppenkast, lekker geborreld, gefeest, getrouwd, vergaderd, carnaval gevierd, maar vooral ook voortreffelijk gegeten?

Vinaigrette Jazz & Salad Bar

It seems an unlikely place to find a jazz club, but Vinaigrette, on the top floor of the Howard Johnson's in the Shmeisani part of town, is where all the people in the know meet for late night drinks and good Arab fusion jazz.
The glass walls of the bar offer spectacular night views over all of Amman, and in the summertime the open terrace is a great place to catch a cool breeze away from the traffic noise and pollution of town.
You will hear a mixture of English and Jordanian Arabic, as this is a popular destination for locals and ex-pats alike. Jordanians are notoriously fashion conscious, you may feel a tad under dressed in faded blue jeans, unless they are an Armani creation.
