Bereidt een cocktail van de subtiele muziek van de Cariben: Antilliaanse folklore, Mexicaanse mariachi, Dominicaanse merengue en de aanstekelijke 'party time' tumba. Ook de meest recente exotische hits staan op het repertoire.
Het trio speelt ook op recepties, verjaardagen en bruiloften van mensen die niet het bekende pop- en top40 geluid willen, maar die wel kiezen voor een speciale sfeer en onweerstaanbare dansmuziek voor jong en oud. Door een uitgekiende keuze aan instrumenten in combinatie met een hoogwaardige geluidsinstallatie, klinkt het trio zelfs in grotere zalen als een volwaardige band. Tenorbattle.nl

Tenorsaxofonist Ruud de Vries en collega-tenorsaxofonist Boris Vanderlek blazen de saxofoon 'tenorbattle' traditie in 2010 weer nieuw leven in. Samen met steeds een 3e tenorsaxofonist gaan zij volledig los op het jazzrepertoire uit de tijd van de legendarische Texas Tenors zoals Illinois Jacquet en Arnett Cobb. Deze illustere saxofoongiganten maakten in de jaren '50, '60 en '70 naam met een zeer intens, vet saxofoongeluid waarbij zij hun jazz rijkelijk lardeerden met een gevoel voor soul, blues en rock 'n roll.

'That's Jazz' een septet met louter topmusici.
That's Jazz speelt arrangementen die Veen maakte van werk uit de jaren 1930 tot 1950 van kleine bezettingen van Duke Ellington en Johnny Hodges, van het Count Basie Octet, en Bennie Carter, terwijl ook stukken van cornettist Mugsy Spanier en ook Thad Dameron op het repertoire prijken.

the Amsterdam Headliners

The Amsterdam Headliners waren drie jaar lang een ‘insider tip’ en bouwden een goede reputatie op in de Nederlandse muziekscene. 2008 wordt het jaar waarin zij hun muziek naar buiten brengen. De formule van deze jonge band is het vertalen van de muziek van bands uit de jaren ’70, zoals Sly & Family Stone, James Brown, Stevie Wonder en The Headhunters naar authentieke originele muziek van deze tijd.

The Bingham Boys

Dit easylistening combo werd gevormd nadat een groep enthousiaste muzikanten had deelgenomen aan het beroemde straatfestival in Avignon. Sindsdien heeft dit flexibele en makkelijk te plaatsen ensemble al menig receptie, borrel, diner en verjaardagsfeest van sfeervolle en onvergeteljke achtergrondmuziek voorzien. Het zwoele en warme trombone geluid mengt goed met de gitaar en de akoestische bas, als de trombonist dan ook nog begint te zingen heeft u helemaal het gevoel als of Chet Baker bij u op bezoek is.

The Highlight Jazz Orchestra

Het Highlight Jazz Orchestra bestaat volledig uit professionele musici met een conservatoriumachtergrond, veelal werkzaam als docent aan conservatoria en muziekscholen of als sessiemusicus.
De oprichter van de 21-koppige band, trombonist Rene Laanen, die jaren in het orkest van Shirley Bassey speelde, bracht deze topmusici bij elkaar.
Orkestleider Adri van Velsen is onder andere bekend als hoofd van de afdeling lichte muziek van het Conservatorium Maastricht, als dirigent van de Conservatorium Big Band Maastricht en als lid van het Nederlands Saxofoon Kwartet.

The Lounge Lizards

The Lounge Lizards emerged from New York's No Wave scene in the late Seventies, at first playing the post-punk circuit along with bands like Pere Ubu and the Cramps. "We started as this punk jazz band," Lurie says, "completely irreverent and basically afraid to play anything beautiful. Everything was tongue in cheek. Then after about three years we tried to take it seriously and it was a disaster. Then our musicianship improved and the music began to take on a life of its own."

The New Impulse

The New Impulse is a Dutch band, which features both young talent as well as established names in the Dutch scene. This project will be introduced in the BIMhuis on July 3.
The group plays its own mix of originals and work of American greats like The Jazz Messengers, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw and Joe Henderson. The music floats between energetic hardbop and melodic neobop.

The Reeds

The Reeds is a unique combination of five Dutch top-saxophonists and one of the most swinging rythmsections of Holland. The saxophone section is a dreamteam. They are all involved with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and/or the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra and this is the first time they play together in this combination. They are not only good team players but excellent soloists as well. Thijs van Otterloo Group

Thijs van Otterloo is the youngest of three sons of the late Rogier van Otterloo, the famous Dutch composer and conductor, who died in 1988. Thijs seemed to have very musical ears and perfect pitch, and he started playing the saxophone and writing his own material at the age of twelve.
Later on, he started conducting his own bigband ('On The Move Jazz Orchestra'), and he got many assignments, both as a composer and arranger.

Thomas Walbum Trio

In November 2002, Thomas Walbum released his first album as leader. The album ‘Boston’ features two veterans of the American jazz scene - drummer Joe Hunt and bassist John Lockwood.
This album was the culmination of a three-year period spent in the United States, mainly in Boston. Here Thomas built up a reputation for himself as an active performer on the jazz scene following the formation of the Thomas Walbum Trio and Quartet.

Thomas Winther Andersen

Thomas Winther Andersen has over the years run different bands as a leader and composer. This profile sums up a variety of these band combinations. The piano trio with Robert Rook is regularly performing in the Netherlands and has already released four CDs. In 2008 a DVD was also released with this group. Thomas' collaboration with tenor player Jimmy Halperin from New York has also become substantial with the groups Line Up, Axel Hagen Quartet and as trio with drummer John Engels. Tilmar Junius Trio

The Tilmar Junius Trio plays adventurous modern Jazz. Central in the trio's repertoire are compositions of Tilmar Junius. This very personal music is characterized by great contrasts and a high level of interaction. Extreme tempos, varying grooves, big mood contrasts and whimsical improvisations make for surprises for the listener, without loss of logic and coherence.

The release of the CD 'Plots' (May 2000) met very positive reviews and lots of airplay. The track 'The preludes' also can be heard on the CD 'Dutch Jazz 2001'. This CD compiled by Radio Netherlands features twelve great Dutch Jazz productions.

Tim Langedijk Trio

Tjazzel

T-Jazz-el is een samenvoegsel van 'jazz' en 'Texel', omdat de musici van Tjazzel op Texel wonen. Tjazzel is een jazzkwartet met zangeres, dat traditionals brengt van o.a. Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald en Rita Reys en van componist Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Tjazzel speelt in de basis met zang, bas, gitaar en drums. De groep geschikt voor congressen, concerten, in hotels etc. waar ze een sfeerbepalend kwartet zijn, maar ook speelt Tjazzel lekkere swing op podia voor zo'n 2000 mensen. Tom Beek Quintet

Well-known for his work with Michiel Borstlap, Francien van Tuinen, Amina Figarova, Rob Madna, Karel Boehlee and tons of others, the lyrical and classy tenor sax of Tom Beek is one of the most in-demand sax voices of the last 15 years.

His debut album "White & Blue" (2005) received wide and critical acclaim, by both press and audience.

Toon Roos Quartet

June 2009: The Toon Roos Quartet will be the opening act for the legendary Steely Dan during their forthcoming European Summer Tour. Toon Roos is considered one of the finest tenor and soprano saxophonists in Europe. He met Steely Dan’s co-founder Walter Becker already eight years ago. Becker became a fan of Roos’ style of playing and of his compositions. The plans they shared back then are coming through today.

Toots Thielemans

Jean Thielemans werd op 29 april 1922 in Brussel geboren.
Toots Thielemans’ eerste internationale doorbraak dateert van 1950 toen hij met Benny Goodman op tournee ging door Europa.

Toots emigreerde naar de USA in 1952. Hij werd er lid van de Charlie Parker’s All-Stars in Philadelphia en van het George Shearing Quintet.

In 1962 componeerde Toots Thielemans het inmiddels wereldberoemde ‘Bluesette’.

Hij was harmonicasolist voor heel wat filmmuziek waaronder Midnight Cowboy, The Getaway, Sugarland Express, Cinderella Liberty, Turks Fruit, Jean de Florette,… en ook voor het TV-kinderprogramma Sesamstraat.

Trio BraamDeJoodeVatcher comprises three of the Dutch jazz scene’s most idiosyncratic musicians, for whom freedom and adventure are essential values. They all play an absolutely equal role in the music, which can go in any which way, depending on decisions made on the spot. The long musical friendship (since 1989) results in intuitive playing of the highest order. The trio shines in short powerful pieces, honoring the jazz tradition by pushing it ahead with consummate, dazzling skill. Trio Töykeät

For over ten years Trio Töykeät has been representing Finnish jazz successfully all over the world — not to mention the most important domestic festivals and concert venues. They have covered four continents already and the speed just keeps accelerating: new tours, new countries and new projects. Trio Williamson & Armus & De Boo

Zes jaar geleden vormde slagwerker Victor de Boo een trio samen met de Canadese musici Joe Williamson (contrabas) en Rob Armus (tenorsaxofoon). Alle drie componeren ze stukken voor het trio. Uitgangspunt is de open houding, dat bijna elke muziekstijl een mogelijke inspiratiebron kan zijn voor improvisaties. Door een hecht samenspel liggen structuur en vrije improvisatie dicht bij elkaar, waarbij sterke melodieën, meeslepende `grooves' en emotionele uitbarstingen belangrijke kenmerken zijn voor het trio.

This rich experience is distilled into a trunkful of poetry, bounced along in a free-wheeling performance of classic standards, original pieces, and spontaneous compositions.

A trio of two horns and a bass, created for the latest cd of altosaxophonist Paul van Kemenade. He invited the great musicians Vloeimans (trp) and Mahieu (b) and they recorded four songs which are on Van Kemenade's cd 'Two horns and a bass'. You can book this trio as part of a doubleconcert.
