Dimami

Dimami heeft in de loop der jaren naam gemaakt als eigenzinnig trio. Voorop staan bedachtzaam samenspel en een hang naar het experiment.

In 2001 bracht Dimami in eigen beheer de cd Rugby uit. In 2003 volgde Touching Ground (EWM). Er volgde een tour waarbij de groep o.m. het SJU Jazzfestival in Vredenburg (Utrecht) opende. In 2007 volgde Nearby Distances (EWM), waarop 2 gastmusici meespelen: Mete Erker (tenor en basklarinet) en Anton Goudsmit (gitaar). Met hen deed Dimami een succesvolle tour langs de Nederlandse jazzpodia ikv The Young Vips Tour.

Dimitar Bodurov

Dimitar was born on the 17th of September, 1979 in Bulgaria.
Since he was 8, he has been constantly involved in music - singing in a choir, playing trombone, saxophone, piano and drums in the Music High school in Varna, Bulgaria. But his affinity for jazz and improvisation developed at home, picking up favourite melodies from the radio and records.
Later, his passion for piano took over and he was admitted in Sofia Conservatory of Music with Major ‘jazz piano’ . In Sofia he performed as a leader or a sideman in various jazz clubs, at festivals, TV shows.

At the age of 15 Dirk Schreurs sat in with R&B-giants such as Bob Hall, Dave Peabody and the Deluxe Blues Band at the Belgian Folk & Blues festival, playing blues, boogie-woogie and gospel piano. Moreover, Dirk came into contact with Enrico Pieranunzi, Trilok Gurtu, John Abercrombie, Jack de Johnette, Martial Solal, Daniel Goyonne, and David Kikoski, all of whom gave spiritual direction to his dynamic search for jazz and improvised music. Diverse

Diverse is a quintet made up of like minded musicians who create music with feelings and emotions that connect with many people. They play with a blend of styles and genres to create music that finds wider appeal without sacrificing the integrity of their musicality. Dixie Express

De Dixie Express werd rond 1970 opgericht in Amersfoort en speelde in vrijwel alle toonaangevende jazzclubs en bij festiviteiten. De band trad op o.a. in Strasbourg, in Tsjechië en diverse malen in Marbella (Spanje).
Het repertoire bestaat behalve uit 'oude stijl' ook uit nummers die kenmerkend zijn voor het swingtijdperk en 'latin music'.

Dixieland Crackerjacks

The Dixieland Crackerjacks were founded in 1994 by saxophonist Bert Brandsma. Within a year they became a full professional organisation that played concerts at many important European jazzfestivals like Dresden, Birmingham, Ninove, Breda and Poitiers.
The Dixieland Crackerjacks recorded 6 CD's and were often presented at TV shows in the Netherlands and Germany.
They played at Jazzfestivals in Portugal, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
With a recent average of more than 200 performances a year, the band is considered to be the most often playing band in the Netherlands.
Since 2004 they have a regular series of dates at a funpark, called: Attractiepark Slagharen.

Don Byron has been consistently voted best clarinettist by critics and readers alike in leading music journals since being named "Jazz Artist of the Year" by Down Beat in 1992, the year he startled the jazz world with the release of his widely acclaimed debut album, Tuskegee Experiments. Continually striving for what he calls "a sound above genre", Byron has created a unique musical aesthetic in a wide range of contexts over the years.

Double Espresso

Double Espresso is in 2003 opgericht door vier jonge vrouwen, en brengt een ongebruikelijk doch zeer interessant geluid voort: de bezetting bestaat uit twee altsaxofoons en twee baritonsaxofoons! Het repertoire bestrijkt eigen werk en gearrangeerde composities van onder meer Zez Confrey, Lee Morgan en Erik van der Weijden. Karakteristiek voor het kwartet is de afwisseling van complexe arrangementen en ritmische stukken waarin veel ruimte is voor improvisatie. Double Espresso speelt haar repertoire uit het hoofd, waardoor het kwartet veel contact heeft met het publiek, en flexibel in te zetten is op diverse locaties.

Dulfer

Dutch saxofonist Hans Dulfer is beyond introduction in most European countries. Duncan Haynes

Having studied classical music, playing piano, cello and trombone as a child, Duncan won a national competition in New Zealand in 1987 performing the Bartok Concerto for Two Pianos and Percussion. At this time he also began exploring jazz and improvised music.

Dutch Aerophonic Orchestra

Het "Aerophonic" is een multifunctioneel orkest wat de mogelijkheid biedt aan getalenteerde componisten/arrangeurs om hun composities en arrangementen te laten spelen door getalenteerde amateurspecialisten en vakstudenten en tevens hen de mogelijkheid te bieden om op (semi-)professioneel niveau in een groot orkest te kunnen musiceren.

D’WYS, the band of Hammond-organist Carlo de Wijs, is changing its tack. After having made two CD’s in a fairly broad musical idiom, the emphasis will now be laid fairly and squarely on the master’s B3 itself!
